level 3 festival 2022
Level 3 Festival 2022 marked our second festival and the first to take place in real-world venues following our fully online debut. This transition from virtual to physical spaces was an exciting and rewarding challenge. We collaborated with Hastings Commons (Observer Building, Hastings), Screen South (Folkestone), and Phoenix Art Space (Brighton) to host two-day events across all three locations.
Each festival event featured a mix of playable art exhibitions, artist and panel talks, and hands-on workshops designed to make immersive technologies accessible. Attendees learned skills in 3D scanning, Unity, and Playmaker, gaining practical experience while engaging creatively.
Level 3 Festival 2022 demonstrated the public’s hunger for free, meaningful activities and conversations. By reframing exhibition spaces as playful spaces centred on video games and interactive art, we shifted the dynamic—young attendees became guides and experts, sharing their knowledge with adults. The festival empowered young people to take pride in their interests and highlighted our belief that games and playable art are vital cultural forms worthy of celebration.
